Welcome to the first entry of The Book Diaries!
This is a new series where I will be documenting the process of putting together a book of essays on living life as an AuDHDer and making it available for purchase. The very thought makes me very nervous and extremely excited!
The working title is ‘A Head Full of Bees: Essays on Life with a Busy Brain’
I’ve never self-published anything, or had a book published at all, so this is going to be an interesting, slightly confusing, and knowing me, probably a chaotic experience.
What I do know is it will be fun, and I’m looking forward to making something new and learning all about the process. I love any content about the ‘behind the scenes’ of a process that I’m fascinated by, so I hope this proves to be entertaining and maybe even informative for you if you’ve ever wondered about what goes on when someone self-publishes a book.
The Book Diaries will be different from the main Neurowavy Thoughts posts. It will be paywalled, at the lowest cost Substack will let me (£3.50 a month), and I’m planning to put any subscription money towards book-related costs, such as book cover design etc (if you aren’t on Notes, you won’t have seen my frankly garish attempt at a book cover. A designer I am not. I’ve used part of it as the image for the newsletter on Substack. It needs work!)
The Neurowavy Thoughts main posts will remain free for everyone, so don’t fret if you’d rather not pay for this series, just delete these when you receive them and I’ll see you in the next main post at the weekend where I’ll get back to waxing lyrical about autism, ADHD and neurodiversity.
Let me tell you how the self-publishing journey has been up until now…
